Country Wedding Weekends

Choose from any number of scenic settings for your ceremony. Imagine a Lakeside ceremony, complete with horse-drawn carriage, flowered pathway and the gentle water of CT's most scenic lake! Sunnyside of Salisbury, our Victorian bed and breakfast, is generally the house that is used by the bride and her bride's maids the night before the wedding day. With its elegant winding staircase, wrap around porch and gorgeous country gardens it provides the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos.

Planning your Country Weekend Wedding.

May we suggest a mid- afternoon wedding, with cocktails beginning at 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.? Interlaken Inn can provide cocktails and Hors d'Oeuvres lakeside or within your reception area.

During cocktails it is pleasant to have a small ensemble playing to entertain the guests. Hors d'Oeuvres are served continuously throughout the time period you choose for cocktails.

Following cocktails and Hors d'Oeuvres, dinner will be served in your choice of areas, including the Vineyard Dining Room or the Continental Room. If you intend on more than a hundred guests, the pavilion is most suitable. The pavilion offers plenty of room for dining, dancing and mingling among the gardens.

The band or DJ should commence one hour into dinner. A champagne or wine toast can be made before or shortly after the completion of dinner. Following the toast will be cake cutting, coffee and dessert. A bouquet and garter ceremony would follow at the next scheduled band break.

For this type of wedding, receiving lines are most appropriate immediately following the ceremony. However, we would be happy to make accommodations if you desire it during the reception. Bands or DJ's usually entertain for four to five hours. When the music ends, it is usually the end of the reception.

We suggest that the wedding party, especially the bride and groom, arrive at the Inn the Thursday before the wedding weekend. This helps with last minute decisions and leads to a more relaxed tension-free weekend. It is nice to have a BBQ or rehearsal dinner here on Friday night. You may also choose to have your bride's maid luncheon here as well.

On Sunday we recommend you invite your guests back for brunch, this allows everyone to say goodbye and to see the wonderful gifts you have received. This is also a perfect opportunity to reminisce about your special day.

There is an abundance of things to explore in our area! Lakeville / Salisbury are quaint New England villages, and offer unique shops and galleries. Visit world-famous Harney Tea Company, or you and your guests may choose to take advantage of River Rafting on the Housatonic River, canoeing on Lake Wononscapomac, Antiquing, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, or just kicking back in an Adirondack chair beside our scenic lake with your favorite book.
