Winter Wedding Wonderland
A dusting of light snow arrived just in time for this evening's winter wedding held in Interlaken's heated pavilion.
The smell of fresh pine and a twinkling of white lights greet Guests for the cocktail hour, immediately putting them in a festive mood.
Evening winter receptions provide the dark backdrop through the pavilion panels, thus emphasizing the candlelit glow, LED spheres and the glimmering Christmas Tree.
The tree was magnificent! The smell was natural perfection. And if you look closely you will see the wedding favors hanging from the branches - fresh maple syrup bottles for each Guest to take home.
We can never forget about the cake display - delicious cupcakes in this case.
A winter wedding in picturesque New England - we'd love to plan it with you. Visit our Winter Wedding page for more details.
Love - ageless and evergreen.

Interlaken has one and this is your way to see fun photos of what is happening all month long - instantly.
What are you thankful for?
As many families gather today to celebrate the holiday, I am sure (or at least hopeful!) everyone is thankful for each other.
What size is your family tree?
Big or small, Interlaken welcomes family reunions any time of the year. It's quite exciting for me because in 2014 I will be the one to coordinate all of the reunions for Interlaken. I've already talked with several Guests interested in our property next season, and one is already scheduled for June 2015. For many of the people I've spoken to, they love the setting of our property as they feel it "keeps their family together". No huge amusement parks with characters (although fun) or large cities to get lost in (also fun) but rather an all inclusive resort in the peaceful countryside of Northwest Connecticut.
Sleep well. We have Sealy Plush Posturepedic mattresses in every room that will rest you comfortably after a day spent at the lakefront or hiking on the Appalachian Trail. We have accommodations to fit all sizes of families from those single travelers up to families of eight. We also have rooms that allow pets, so no need to leave your four legged family member at home.
Eat well. Start your day off with a hearty New England breakfast buffet. Order a picnic lunch and enjoy your meal lakeside. Time for an old fashioned BBQ on our patio followed by a bonfire at our private lakefront with s'mores and hot chocolate.
Breathe well. There's nothing like waking up and taking a deep breath of fresh country air every morning. Listen to the birds sing as you take a long walk on a local trail or nearby scenic route.
Play well. Challenge one another to a game of tennis, ping pong, air hockey or pool. Canoe or kayak around the perimeter of the deepest lake in Connecticut. Swim in our outdoor heated pool. Swing your clubs at the Hotchkiss Golf Course right next door. Arrange a wiffle ball game on the Sunnyside lawn. Sign up for one of our Family Team Building activites, such as the Culinary Challenge or Radical Race.
Travel well. Being right at the tip of Northwest Connecticut and less than 1 1/2 hours from the Hartford and Albany Airports, Interlaken is the perfect location for those living in Boston, New York and any part of Connecticut. We are also only a 2 hour ride from mid-town Manhattan.
Gather well. With 30 acres, there are plenty of spots to gather your family. On your Townhouse Suite deck overlooking the Courtyard. In adirondack chairs on the wraparound porch of Sunnyside. In our lounge chairs with the perfect lakefront view. In the Executive Lounge room for wine and cheese, games and cards. In the Vineyard for a special sit down dinner.
Celebrate well. An anniversary? A birthday? We would love to be a part of making whatever it is extra special.
Explore locally. Visit nearby Millerton, NY, voted by Frommer's as "one of the coolest small towns in America" (big honor as there are lots of small towns in America!). Hike the tallest peak in Connecticut at Bear Mountain in Salisbury. Horseback ride in the Litchfield Hills at Lee's Riding Stables. Visit one of the many State parks including beautiful Kent Falls in Kent, CT. Head up to the Norman Rockwell Museum in the Berkshires.
Plan well. If you have a family then you are already halfway there! I'd absolutely love to show you our property and find the best accommodations for your entire family. I know every room by heart. I love talking food so we could plan some awesome menus together. I promise that the planning of your family reunion will be a fun experience for both of us. Contact me any time at email@example.com. I look forward to learning about your family tree!
It's not every day that I see this in one of the meeting rooms at Interlaken:
We had the pleasure of having the 2013 - 14 U.S. National Women's Hockey Team stay with us last night. They are in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut to face off with the Salisbury School Boy's Team at the Flood Athletic Center this afternoon. Be sure to click on the link to see some wonderful professional photos of the players in action.
Baby, It's Cold Outside
The temperatures have dropped now, so yes, it's cold enough for snow - at least these past couple of days in Lakeville. In fact, our first "snow" of the season covered the property yesterday morning: a nice pretty dusting just to remind us that the season is approaching and to be prepared for some fun winter activities!
Given the chill in the outside air, it was only appropriate to have Tom and Heidi from our closest ski mountain - Mohawk Mountain - join us for our Intermingle this evening. With a hot toddy in hand and the fireplace crackling behind us, we talked about the quickly approaching ski season at this mountain just 20 minutes from Interlaken. Tom said Mohawk is the perfect mountain to teach your children to ski because of its convenient size and family friendly environment. With 25 trails and 7 lifts all set in a scenic state forest in Cornwall, CT, Mohawk offers lessons for all ages, rentals and even night skiing. Skiiers, don't get too excited just yet: their opening day is optimistically scheduled for the first weekend after Thanksgiving - with a more realistic opening day for the second weekend in December. If the cold temperatures like this stick around, you can start making your plans to stay at Interlaken and ski at Mohawk Mountain with your family!
