Happy Current Year!

Before I welcome in the New Year, I wish to recap some of my favorite Guest comments from 2011.   We are fortunate that so many of our Guests take the time to share their positive experiences with us!  I decided to read through them and do my best to condense them into just some of my favorite lines, but it was a hard task to do - and as you can see from the paragraphs below I failed terribly at it!  So grab a glass of cheer, relax, and read on!

It was fabulous.  Your hospitality was incredible and you pampered us every day.  I can’t wait to come back to your hideaway in heaven.

We had a wonderful time.  The Inn was lovely, we especially enjoyed  the screened in porch.  Also, you have a first rate pool and the Lake was a comfortable stroll from the Inn.  We also ate at Morgan's several evenings and found that to be excellent.  All in all we would definitely come back.

My wife loved buying gifts in your little shop and we both appreciated how you display and sell the cat & dog toys supporting the local animal rescue shelter.  The Interlaken Inn clearly makes an effort to be a member of the community.

My husband & I enjoyed our first stay at the Interlaken, despite the rainy weather.  I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the room and having a shower with no lack of hot water or water pressure!  We had a delicious dinner at Morgan's while listening to the music of your wonderful piano player.  Since there weren't many patrons in the restaurant, we even got up and danced to our favorite song!  It was a romantic evening!

My wife and I just celebrated our first anniversary together at Interlaken. I can promise you that we will be there again soon. Your staff was nice and so was the property. We had dinner at Morgans and both my wife and I agreed that it was the best meal that we had in our entire year of being wed. Once again I just want to say thank you for giving us a memorable expeirence and hope to see you and your staff again soon.

Thanks you so much for making our Daughter’s Wedding Weekend so memorable.  Brandon and all of the staff were so accommodating.  Our Suite was very large and well appointed.  All of our family and friends could not say enough nice things about the arrangements and the food.

I was given the task of finding a location that would allow our senior management team to spend some time together and get to know each other…Kristy, Maura and Interlaken made me look like a ROCK STAR! The words from the President on the first night were, “This is exactly what I was expecting but 100x better!”   The food was outstanding! I work in Human Resources so I am aware that no matter what you do you cannot please everyone. This is not the case at Interlaken. You can please everyone with the food! There was nothing but rave reviews after each meal. The bon fire was key to our team building experience. This was such a well done…event. It is not often that you can consider a bon fire an event but at Interlaken it really is. When I walked out of the front door and saw the torches leading the way to the fire my jaw dropped. That is just another finishing touch that I will think of as the Interlaken touch going forward. Our managers from Asia who were attending had Smores for the first time and they loved it. The team building events were hilarious. The ping pong ball challenge was by far the hardest and most embarrassing but very fun. The culinary challenge was a great time too. It’s not too many Executive Chefs who will take time out of their schedule to play games with guests. This was great.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The facilities are beautiful and we had a wonderful time with our dogs. We came here to get some peace and quiet for our dogs from the 4th of July fireworks in our Queens NYC neighborhood and you delivered. The room was very clean and spacious and the restaurant/bar was very good and accommodating to myself and my wife who has a very specific diet.  Our dogs loved your grounds, especially the moose sculpture which they thought was real and were barking at it every time we walked passed it.

We loved our stay at the Inn and have already recommended it to our family and friends!  We plan to go back next year.  The Inn is in such a beautiful part of CT.  The rooms were clean, the grounds gorgeous, and we loved canoeing on the Lake!  Also, our meal at the restaurant was delicious and the service was wonderful!!  Overall a 5-star place to stay!!

My wife and I along with our daughter and son in law attended a wedding at your Inn and had a great time. I thought that the facility you have was terrific, the rooms were great and the service we received from everyone was also great. We are very frequent travelers and sometimes harsh critics so I hope you take this very well. We have already told many people of the very positive experience. Good luck to you.

The staff and employees of your Inn were terrific in helping me surprise my girlfriend as we got engaged.  Afterwards they made me feel like family in their happiness for us.  All and all, we’d give our stay a 10 out of 10!

YOU ARE THANKING ME??!!  NO, I SHOULD BE THANKING YOU!  What a great property.  But more importantly, what great staff.  Your front desk, accounting, housekeeping and restaurant staff are AWESOME!  When the power went out, they gave out glow sticks and offered us anything they could.  Brandon was a big help that day!  I will be back the next time I do business at Sharon Hospital!!

The best of many of my experiences at the Interlaken is the ever consistent graciousness and friendliness of all of your staff. I am always greeted with a warm smile and someone remembering me from a previous stay. I intend to return over and over again!

I welcome the opportunity to tell you what amazing, friendly service we received during the recent Lynne Perrella 3 day workshop!  Nothing was a problem and everything was done with true sincerity to please the customer.  EXCELLENT!

Kevin,
My family and I wanted to thank you and the entire staff for taking an unusually difficult situation and restoring our faith in client service.  We've been blessed to stay at some of the finest hotels in the world, but the devotion of you and your staff to make our stay as comfortable as possible equalled any Ritz or Four Seasons.
When the challenge of limited electricity passed we were finally able to enjoy the Lakeside Cottage. Smores over the bonfire, exploring with the kids and quiet nights on the screened porch. Just what we needed. It was as stressful a phone call as I can recall when we spoke on Friday about an hour before we hit the road. Thanks for helping make this a memorable visit to Lakeville. We won't stay anywhere else when we visit in the future. Special thanks to the nice gentleman you had watch over us this week. I missed his name but he and all of you were terrific.

The Interlaken Inn is beautiful.  Everything was 1st class

YES! She said YES!

And was she surprised and happy?  YES!

Interlaken Wedding Proposal CT

Michael and Jennifer are the newest engaged couple at Interlaken!  I was fortunate to meet them at check-out today, and just had to find out all of the exciting details…  dinner in Morgan’s went as planned for Michael, and when it came time for dessert – Jennifer sure did find a SWEET surprise in hers!  Wes was busy snapping photos, capturing the special moment.  I had to take some myself just so I could show you the happy couple.  Michael and Jennifer had stayed with us back in July, so he decided it would be a nice romantic place to come back to.  I am so glad he picked us as we just love being a part of such a sweet and special moment.  Mike and Jen were going to head back home today, but stop at a few of the local wineries to raise several glasses to the next step in their lives.

It was a pleasure to meet you both!  Thank you for choosing the Interlaken for such a special occasion.

Did she say YES?

In our restaurant, Morgan's, within the next 60 minutes, there will be a proposal!  I love it!  "Michael" just spoke with our server, Wes, to make sure everything was in place for this once-in-a-lifetime moment.  Naturally Wes had to share this with me as he knows how I am about this kind of thing!  The last time an engagement happened here was also in Morgan's, this past July (July 10th - read my blog!) - and it was a complete and wonderful surprise for Jody.  We absolutely love being a part of such a special occasion.  And did I mention, Michael and Simon, that we do weddings here also?!  I just love this kind of thing, and can't wait to meet the happy couple at breakfast tomorrow!

How about a lakefront ceremony amongst the birches?

Renovation Review!

As the clock continues to tick tock towards the end of 2011, it is time for the annual review of all of the renovations that took place this year to provide you, our Interlaken Guests, hopefully with a more comfortable stay and a better overall Interlaken experience.  Let me recap our renos!

  • The Townhouse sections, both Suites and adjoining rooms, received new carpet
  • A pet friendly king-bedded room became available in our Sunnyside building
  • A State-of-the-Art Key Lock system was implemented (be sure to return your key card at check-out as they can be re-programmed for the next Guest)
  • The bathrooms in our Victorian-styled Sunnyside building got a new look with granite tops and wood vanities to provide you with more space for all of your toiletries
  • White duvets are now on every bed in the Main Building, accented with pillows and a bed scarf
  • Two prototype bathrooms were installed on the second floor of the Main Building
  • The Suite in the Sunnyside building got an entire face lift, both the bedroom and sitting area.  Perfect room for the Mother of the Bride!
  • A "peninsula" at the front of our building was created and landscaped with beautiful trees and shrubs
  • One room in the main building is transitioning into a very special room, inspired by a special Guest who always stayed in that room while visiting Interlaken and Lime Rock Park.  The drapery and carpet is already in....
  • And finally is Woodside, certainly the largest of the renovations of 2011!  A completely new bathroom, larger, installed with glass enclosed shower units and granite topped vanities.  Cozywhite duvets for each Queen-sized bed.  A back door that will lead (in 2012) to a sitting area for all of our pets and pet owners.  Lastly, good-bye carpet and hello wood floor!

Be sure to check back regularly for a preview of what we have planned for 2012!!

"Winter Wonderland"

If I had to guess, I would say that Felix Bernard (music) and Richard B. Smith (lyrics) wrote this wonderful song after they witnessed freshly fallen snow like we had here last night.  It's the kind of snow that covers every branch, every twig, from base to tip, on every tree.  The drive into work was "a beautiful sight". I decided to take the long way in, and took Route 41 where the views north of and heading into Salisbury were spectacular.  I am not sure if the trees will stay covered over the weekend, but there will surely be white stuff on the ground, which is perfect if you plan to head this way to cut your own Christmas tree.  One choice for cutting would be at the Seekonk Tree Farm up in Great Barrington, MA, just about 30 minutes north of the Interlaken.  You can take the scenic ride up on Route 41 that I just told you about, up into the Berkshires, to this lovely farm with a wide variety of trees - both big and small.

"Sleigh bells ring, are you listening" - book the Sleigh Ride Package this winter for you and your sweetheart!

"In the meadow, we can build a snowman" - build one behind our Sunnyside building!

"As we dream by the fire" - cozy up by the fireplace in your Townhouse Suite!

"The plans that we've made" - make some getaway plans for yourself this winter!

"Walking in a winter wonderland" - bundle up and walk to our pretty lakefront!

I like sharing my favorites with you - Winter Wonderland is my favorite Christmas song!  What's yours?
