June's Top Performers
Drumroll please.... and the winner of the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix GT held today at Lime Rock Park is...Bergmeister/Long, Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Congrats also to the Vette fans (Geoff, too bad you weren't watching in person) who came in second and third. I got thinking, if Interlaken had a race, who would win? Let me share with you June's Top Performers!
Guestroom: Room 140! A Main Building King Bedded Room that faces the pool and is decorated like no other on property. Recently renovated in honor of a very special Guest that stayed at Interlaken while visiting Lime Rock Park.

Room 118 (a first floor room with two queens, same view as above), Room 161 (a Victorian-styled king room in our Sunnyside building), Room 150 (the winner in the pet friendly room category - a king bedded room also in the Sunnyside building) and Suite 209 with adjoining Room 210. *Honorable mention to Room 302 - a king bedded room in the Countryside building.
Onto the winners in Morgan's restaurant!
In a category all its own: Morgan's Burger! Local Barlow Farm Grass-fed burger with our homemade French Fries, choice of Caramelized Onions, Bacon, Grafton Cheddar, Berkshire Blue Cheese or Swiss.
Entrees: Salmon! Grilled Wild Coho Salmon, Marinated Leeks and English Cucumbers, Yogurt Sauce. I can attest to its yummiest personally.
I'd say come and try it but it's already been changed (we update quite often, as you know) on the latest menu to Grilled Wild King Salmon, Roasted Local Summer Squash, Pistachio Puree, Yogurt Sauce. Sounds just as yummy as the winner!
Runner-ups: Roasted Organic Chicken with Farmer Church's Local Spinach, Roasted Garlic-Thyme Jus and Grilled Grass-fed NY Strip with House Worcestershire, Horseradish, Grilled Asparagus. *Honorable mention: Homemade Asparagus Ravioli.
All in a day's work
I was chatting with a Guest who is coming to visit her 12 year old son who is at a local camp this summer near Interlaken. After taking her reservation for next weekend, she wanted some ideas of what they could do for fun for the weekend. So on and on I went with all the details and towards the end of the conversation she said "Well, I'd better get going as I have to get ready to go out" and I said "And I better get back to work". OK, so after I said that I had to laugh - "better get back to work"? I was working! That is how fun my job can be, lucky me.
So where am I going with this? Oh yes, the FUN! I am not going to list an amusement park (although they are fun). When you stay at Interlaken with your family, it's all about the great outdoors, both right at the Interlaken and in the surrounding countryside. Canoeing or kayaking on the lake, biking the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, hiking the Appalachian Trail, Horseback riding, picnicking near a waterfall (or at our lakeside), picking blueberries, flying through the trees at Catamount's Adventure Park, golfing at Hotchkiss Golf Course, visiting local Farm Markets (such as Freund's Farm), swimming in the lake, playing tennis - the list goes on. What's my favorite fun thing to do? (I bet you are all so surprised....)
What's cooking, Chef Karen?
It's always a loaded question when I ask one of our Chef's what the specials are for the evening. I know as soon as they tell me from the soup right through to the dessert I will be hungry and wanting to make a reservation! Yesterday was no exception. As soon as I heard the soup of the day, I was doomed.
Soup: Homemade Black Bean
Appetizer: Brandade, a french recipe: Salted Cod, Milk, Potatoes, Garlic Cream
Entree: Local organic Grilled Veal Chop, Wild Rice and Fresh Mushrooms
Dessert: Tiramisu (made the authentic Italian way)
Karen went on to say she also made Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee and a Blueberry Tart. Sounds like Karen had a busy afternoon!

I believe our newly landscaped Main Building is now complete!
A moose. A horse. A rooster. A llama. A cat. And now this canine! You can find all these animals and more at the Interlaken, thanks to Sculptor Denis Curtiss of Kent, CT. Denis is a Representational Sculptor working in bronze and steel, creating these amazing life-sized pieces. His metal sculptures are incredible and are often the focal point of photos with Guests visiting Interlaken. As you wander the property you'll be sure to meet up with them all! This guy announces to all we are a fun place for a vacation - come and play with us!
