National Photograph Month
May, among many things, is National Photograph Month. Although I could share many favorite photos of Interlaken over the years, I'd thought I'd pick some that may give you some info about Interlaken that perhaps you weren't aware of.
This photo was taken on the second floor of our Main Building in a King bedded room. Each room has a private screened in deck and this is its view. Guests will ask what the view is like, and this photo shows perfectly our lush green courtyard as well as the distance to the pool.
This photo shows the location of our private Lakeside Cottage and how close the Cottage is to the lake. Some Guests don't realize we are nestled in between two lakes (Lake Wononscopomuc and Lake Wononapakook) and this is the only accommodation that sits right at the shores of what we call "the back lake". (Our front lake is open to all of our Guests for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, etc.). When Guests rent the Lakeside Cottage, this entire area is completely private. Needless to say, it's seclusion will take all your worries away.
Morgan's Restaurant at Interlaken is truly "farm-to-table". This photo shows greens and veggies picked fresh this morning from a local farm to be used on the evening menu. Can't be any fresher than that.
I have many lovely pictures of the "front" lake, but this one catches my eye. I love how the chairs are lined up and ready to go - its like they are saying "we are ready to serve you". And serve you with relaxation and a wonderful view of the deepest lake in Connecticut. Perfect for swimming, fishing and canoeing/kayaking.
Lastly, here's a photo of a bonfire happening at our front lake. Bonfires can be arranged after a Rehearsal dinner, for a corporate retreat, for a family reunion - really any time you are in the mood for a hot fire, s'mores and some hot cocoa.
Tea for Two. Tea for Eight. How about Tea for Fourteen? We can do it.
Our soon-to-be Harney Tea Suite (more on that in another blog!) is the perfect location to gather your closest friends in celebration or just to celebrate the wonderful beverage of tea. Tea parties have been around since the Victorian and Edwardian eras and are still - if more so - popular today. Our new Afternoon Tea Party package makes it very easy - we provide an assortment of traditional tea sandwiches, biscuits and scones, pastries and mini-desserts, and a variety of the world famous (and my favorite) Harney & Sons Tea. The entire private Townhouse Suite is yours for the entire afternoon, so chances are you'll get to enjoy many flavors, from their most popular Hot Cinnamon Spice to Japanese Sencha to Earl Grey to Scottish Afternoon. Vanessa Thurston will be your personal tea party planner, so if your tea cup is ready to be filled with fun and friends, contact her 1-800-222-2909.
Weekly Penthouse Peek
Here's the last of my weekly sneak peeks of the Penthouse Suite. It's almost completed! Just need some finishing touches and it will be ready to go. The last stage of the Penthouse renovation will be the Zen Garden outside on the rooftop deck.
C'est Christine visits Interlaken
I've got a new blog to read, and I am thinking one to emulate as well.
Christine Amorose stayed at the Interlaken this past weekend, and she wrote about her experience here in Lakeville on her blog "C'est Christine". Now I have many photos of our pretty lakefront, but none with someone next to it standing on their head!
What a way to start the day... Thanks for an excellent photo, Christine, and all of your positive words about Interlaken!
In my book, C'est Christine truly does have "A Charming Way with Words."
We recently did an entire property linen replacement, looking to provide our Guests with the most comfortable and cleanest night's rest possible. But what happens to all of the old linen, you might ask? We give to those in need, from shelters to animal rescues to this, The Salvation Army.
The truck is ready to be filled with our old sheets, blankets, duvets, pillows, shams, skirts, scarves - you name it. If you saw it on the beds here at Interlaken you will now find it in the Salvation Army truck going to those in need.
We aren't filling up our landfills! Happy Earth Day!
